I also think it’s already time for they to go back into the customization options, it was one of the things they used in marketing but it isn’t getting attention from the developers, so some changes to get simplifie the HUD and options like color code in Lost Ark is very welcome. The bad thing about BDO, it has increadiable graphics but you can bet that those who stay playing BDO play mostly at low for the bad optimization of the game and that affect your character customization, so a beautiful character in high graphics may look like shit in low graphics, and a decent in low graphics may still look decent in graphics or even better at high graphics. In Black Desert you can change your character height, weight, proportions (you know what i mean) and every face bone of your character, that means the potential of unique character is very huge, if you are one of those who change and move things a little here and there of course it won’t be unique because you lack knowledge of customization and character creation, to have that will take a lot of time, mainly artists have those knowledge or those who spend hundreds of hours customizing characters. To sum it up as a TLDR: BDO character creation is so, so much worse compared to lost ark, and I don’t know what reviewers who decide its the opposite are smoking.įrom my perspective of 3 to 4 years of BDO (took a lot of breaks) and ~6 months of Lost Ark.īlack Desert has a lot of more potential in customization than Lost Ark but it isn’t beginner friendly, that means if the less of customization you know the better Lost Ark will be but the more you know the better Black Desert customization will be. Not the case in lost ark, I have 6 male and 6 female chars and never had a problem making them all distinct with their own style while to my liking. And I’m insanely triggered that facial hair in BDO CC doesn’t change color with hair/have no palette, wanted to make a sage (a melee wizard that controls lighting) which looked insanely cool and have to resort to black hair because most colors choices the game gives you just look whack as fuck. Im especially triggered by not being able to get whatever eye color I want, which is available in lost ark. You cannot choose color from a palette like in lost ark, only time you can do is hair color. Again, lost ark blows BDO out of the water in this area. Only face tattoos are movable, you cannot add cheek blush, and the coloring on the tattoos are so weird. Much, much less options and maneuverability in terms of makeup/face tattoo. In lost ark CC you right click to turn it on/off, simple as fuck. This is so furstrating, in BDO cc screen you have to click off the head tracking on the top left corner, which is a nightmare considering this thing gets turned on randomly so many times. In lost ark there are a couple sliders and they are so much simpler and easier to use, albeit less customizable, this is great for the vast majority of gamers that just wants something quick and easy to make a character they like.Ĭharacter head tracking randomly gets enabled in BDO CC.
All the while editing with whiteblocks on your character’s face. You have 3 controllers and non of them have any tooltips to let you know what they control.
The face shape editor is incredibly annoying and borderling exhausting to use. BDO you have 3 basic face types and if you wanna make your character unique and not just slight variation on the class poster you either have to copy one from popular album or get into the face shape editor - which leads to point 2 Tons of faceshapes to choose from compared to BDO. And I think several of these game review channels who also looked at lost ark said ‘bdo has better cc than this game for sure’.īought the game today for $1 on sale, and after an hour in character creation I have to say lost ark’s cc is so much superior. I have seen so many reviews on black desert talking about how good the character creation system is.
